Sunday fun

Great job to everyone who came out to play with the pipe. The workout included a circuit that featured the pipe, kb swings, hspu, shuttle runs, situps, and a heavy bag carry. We also had a few pipe records broken:

12 Lifts from the ground to an overhead position - Schuyler - 1:45
Lunges - Chadron - 31 reps
OHS - Bin - 17 reps

The 3 minute overhead static hold remains untouched.

On his way to 31

Destroying the previous 3 minute challenge

Fighting it

Still fighting

Down, but never out

ok guys, i have a question. my body seems to be rejecting newcomb food (couldn't possibly imagine why...), but that's pretty much my only weekly choice. what would u recommend i eat from our fine dining institution? quite frankly i don't think they provide enough variety and quality in food for a healthy crossfit nutrition, but perhaps one of u has found a way to correct this...i would really appreciate help with this.

how many times a day do you eat at the d-hall?

I would say go for the least adulterated food (fruit, vegetables from the salad bar, and whatever protein they have at the salad bar also), and favor the small food side (where they usually have all the "nice" items) rather than the section where all the burgers and waffle makers are. The less they try to cook the food (beef fajitas instead of beef chili), the better it probably is for you.

Next time you go the store, grab a big bag of nuts. Then keep a few in a plastic bag in your backpack. Then, if you can't get good fat, you can just grab your nuts.

Barbara last night at Classics, 39:40 (incl. breaks and a puke trip in the middle of 3rd round pushups).

yeah I hit the d-hall once a day and being vegetarian my options are somewhat limited but I've figured out how to make do. Typically I grab a bowl of cottage cheese (I'm a fan) and to make it taste better I throw in some weird fruit mix or apple sauce (always a solid combo). Then I grab a second plate and pile that with extras, usually whatever mixed veggie combos or bean/chili type stuff and occasionally some rice. To finish off I hit the salad bar where I do a pretty standard salad and add some of the salad bar tofu (it's ok most of the time) and some sunflower seeds. With balsamic vinaigrette dressing this is a solid and tasty salad. The only beverages I do are milk and water. This method leaves me full and with a pretty nutritionally decent meal without having to fall back onto pasta or other grain heavy stuff despite being vegetarian. Pick out some of the leaner meat sources and you should have enough options for twice a day dining hall eating. You can even add some of the shitty fruit they stock if you don't mind it.

I must admit I'm not one for many vegetables, but yesterday I tried what Bin suggested and it seems to have worked fine. I'll add some of Ben's tips as well and report back, but I definitely can't do a veg-only diet, so I'll mix and match and see where that takes me.
Can't say I'll ever see myself wanting a handful of nuts, nor would I like to start training my instincts towards such impulses anytime soon, but it sounds like a pretty good approach if you like wrapping ur lips around the occasional nuts. Thanks for all the advice guys!
